DJ Skaz Digga...On The Tables!

From Durham, North Carolina to the world, DJ Skaz Digga has been spinning the tables. Starting off in local clubs & parties to sharing major stages with major artists, he has built a respected reputation among emcee's grinding in North Carolina and National Recording artists. I had to hunt him down for this interview so pay attention!

TaraMarie:  You've played a major role in artist development within the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. Can you tell us some of the artists you've worked with?

Skaz:  Locally I've worked with plenty of artists in North Carolina. Some of those being...Mr D.O.L.O., Camara, The Presidents, M.O.S., Norf Clik (Small World & Brolic), The Ill Beingz, Jozeemo, Flawless, Rick Vocalz, Brandon D, Gav Beats, Kal Royale, Lil Gram, Double A, Lil YIT, K-Hill, Kourvioisier, LoveJoy, Mark Steele, The Real Charlie-O and the list goes on. Any artist that is serious from the NC area pretty much. I've worked with them because I provide a full service studio (FlavorFruitStudios).

TaraMarie:  As well as your long list of DJ Credits, you also produce music. What are some of your credits in the production side of your career?

Skaz:  On the National side of things, I've worked with Big Daddy Kane, Petey Pablo, Camp Lo, Akinele and Little Brother as well as landing a song on the movie "Paid In Full".

Tara Marie:  In 2000 you were introduced to the Legendary Big Daddy Kane and you've been his road DJ every since. How did that opportunity come about?

Skaz:  BDK had been back and forth to the NC area since the early 90's because he was managing a group of singers that I went to high school with. He had been hearing about me and scouting me out for quite some time. We got introduced by a mutual friend and the rest is history! Now it's gone on 12 years later...

TaraMarie:  What are some of the highlights of your career?

Skaz:  I co-Founded a successful DJ Agency (Earthquake Prod) and a few Production companies (NastyFruitProd and FlavorFruitEnt). Also travelling all around the world and meeting all of my heroes in music and becoming close friends with them. I share the stage with alot of artists that I idolized growing up and that feels so amazing! I feel really blessed to have paid the dues I've paid and achieved the success that I have in this ever-growing music industry.

TaraMarie:  Where can we find Skaz Digga in the future and what can we expect from you?

Skaz:  You can find me usually in FlavorFruitStudios producing music and developing artists because that's what I do best. You can still catch me DJing at events too. Annually I DJ for McDonald's at the CIAA as well as The Essence Festival

TaraMarie:  What are your thoughts on the North Carolina music scene? Do you feel that it has the potential to prosper?

Skaz:  The North Carolina scene is very hopeful and it has alot of the potential to be the next big thing, IF we make it more of a movement like other markets have done...ex. Miami, New Orleans and Atlanta. It just seems like everybody is fighting for space to exist in this industry when they can co-exist.

TaraMarie:  How can serious artists find your studio and book recording time?

Skaz:  FlavorFruitStudios is located at 112 W. Main St in Downtown Durham, NC. For studio booking, email me at flavorfruit12@gmail.com or call 919-672-4069.
