Major Green "Stay Tuned"
If you live anywhere near Raleigh, North Carolina, you have SEEN the name Major Green! When it comes to Marketing himself and his brand, Jabre Green knows exactly what he's doing. He's not only the Artist "MAJOR GREEN", he's also the mind and hands behind iKandi Productions, a Multi-Media Company that handles Engineering, Production, Recording, Photography, Events, Graphics and T-Shirt Pressing. With his wife, Shariah Green, by his side, all I see is a winning combination.
"Stay Tuned" is a well-tuned flow of catchy hooks, strong lyricism, and high energy production, with DJ Cen City (one of the most prominent Indy supporting DJ's in the area) on his hosting job. This is one of those CD's I can pop in, ride to and find myself rapping along with after the first spin. Make sure you catch the video for the intro track, Power, and go check out Major Green on the stage at the 2015 Durm HipHop Summit this coming weekend.

Seven Da Pantha "The Rider" Official Video
Seven Da Pantha - A Rider from Otrocity on Vimeo.
It's been a minute since I've actually seen the homie, Seven Da Pantha, so I'm glad this came across my timeline and I took the time to watch. The track flows with a nostalgic beat (Produced by Kwest), the content is heartfelt with facts and issues facing the Black Community everyday (Directed by Otrocity).
"A Rider" is someone who is not afraid to stand up for their beliefs, one that will stand beside his fellow man in action and fight for a positive change, and be the leader of such a movement when called upon. I've seen Seven be that person within the Indy scene, for his partner, Apostle (Anthony Adams), and other artists.
Word is that Seven is leaving the East Coast and setting up residence out West. Come celebrate his journey next Thursday, July 16th, at Deep South Bar (430 S. Dawson St. Raleigh, NC) where he will give us his last North Carolina performance on the Power Of The Tongue Showcase, Presented by SpringHill Productions (K-Hill & Azon Blaze).

Major Green "Art Gallery"
It took me a minute to finally sit back and check this song out, and I've played it numerous times since. Major Green is a man of many talents, and I'm loving the sound and flow of "Art Gallery". Being the CEO/Creator of iKandi Productions has inspired Major Green to learn every aspect of the music and entertainment business. He not only writes and records music, he also produces, does his own Mixing and Mastering, edits videos, designs his own artwork and flyers, presses his own tees and duplicates cd's. He's a "Business" in himself.
"Art Gallery" features singer T. Graham, Production credit goes to Tspoon.
Major Green, aka Jabre Green, is currently working on his new album, and recently released the Official Video for another favorite of mine, "Good And The Bad".

Kenny Macguyver "Diary Of A StepDad" Official Video
Sometimes a battle rapper gets the chance to step out of the streets and into the life of a family man, and it changes him. Durham, NC's Kenny Macguyver's heartfelt lyrics on "Diary Of A StepDad" tell his personal story of how his life has evolved in 2014 as he stepped into the role of a stepfather of 3 young children. He's also been leaking hints to the building of his upcoming new album "For Mature Audiences Only". This video features his fiance, Mosca Flux, and the children he's helping to raise.

Tigo B Featuring Brandon D "9 to 5" Official Video
A song most of us can relate to..."I never want to work a 9 to 5"
"9 to 5" is off the newest project release by Tigo B, "Rise: A Gemini Story", and features Greensboro, North Carolina Legend, Brandon D. From the mind of an Independent Artist, who knows the struggles and the potential of that 24/7 grind, "You're either working for a dream or a dream is working for you". Both Tigo B and Brandon D are relentless in their pursuit of never having to work a "9 to 5".

If you haven't already heard of "ILLPO", let me introduce you to two of the hottest Hip Hop artists out of Greensboro, North Carolina. They go by the names "Boones" & "Bond" and when they hit the stage they set off an incredible tag team of lyrical comraderie that sets them apart from so many others. Beats (Credits with 50 Cent and Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, Young Dro, Ludacris, Big Boi and others) with executive production by CBoogs. ILLPO-ODE is the 1st video from the UpSouth Musik represented rap duo from the "Dopamine" project.

Ciroc Pop "Whore's Cry" Official Video
Ciroc Pop released his newest video off his "Atazagoraphobia" project a few days ago. "Whore's Cry" follows the life of a prostitute from the streets to her relationship with the 'pimp' that promises her everything, only to take it all away from her. This is a deep track brought to life by Ciroc Pop. Like I said before, "Atazagoraphobia" is a "must have" in your cd collection of HipHop coming out of North Carolina this year.

Descendent (The MC)
It's always an honor to watch an emcee grow and embrace his/her talent. Ira "Descendent" Bond is one of those emcee's from the Raleigh/Durham area that has continually grown into his craft. He has used advice from mentor's such as Chaundon (Justus League) to find himself in his music and has set personal goals to use his words to inspire those who listen, especially the generations coming up behind him, to believe in their own dreams and to use the tools that God gave them to accomplish whatever they set their minds on.
Descendent learned from his father and uncle's to really pay attention to the lyrics in songs because there's a story behind every artist that can be heard in their rhymes. He feeds off that knowledge when he writes his own verses and you can hear his story through every line he spits. He is currently working on a new project titled "Road To Greatness: Journey Of A Lost Soul" due to release end of April 2014. Watch for it! "I just want to make good music for the people to spread the truth. Hear my heart, feel my pain! Hopefully you will like what you hear and continue to support me." Descendent

Ghostdog "Ghost Recon" EP
Ghostdog aka Derek Thomas, a staple in the Hip Hop scene and community of the RDU area of North Carolina, dropped his "Ghost Recon EP" in my email a few days ago. After sitting down and listening to the project, I have to say it had me wanting more...Even though some of the tracks were too short, the bars are there and if your a gamer, you will appreciate the skits throughout the project! Production credits go to Sampai (from a crew called Nouveau Souflee' out of France), Doc Verbz, Manifest Beats, Crafsmen and Cap (outta Florida).
Ghostdog carries the flow of Old School emcee's and stays true to the HipHop Culture in every sense. This EP is available for free download at www.ghostdogmc.com

Ciroc Pop "Atazagoraphobia"
"Atazagoraphobia" The Fear Of Being Forgotten...Let that sink in a bit...
Ciroc Pop is a familiar smiling face in the RDU music scene. He' a big guy with alot to say if you take the time to listen. Born and raised in the back streets of Hamlet, NC, he's fought his own battles coming up and found his voice through his lyrics. Ciroc Pop puts alot of his life in this project and I can't stop listening!! He pays homage to his wife, Fame Bell (who's also a singer & emcee), his craft and his Maker. As if the Cover Art alone doesn't speak volumes, I encourage you to give "Atazagoraphobia" a spin...The album features B.L.E.S.S., Life The Legend, Annie Adams, Rico Cruz, Roulette and Just10.
"There's nothing in my way now. I was blocking my own path before, now the time is right, my team is right, and my mind is in the right place to really make a name for myself in the music industry..." Ciroc Pop

NC Super Producer "Manifest" Gets Placement on Rick Ross' "Mastermind"
North Carolina has been called the overlooked state as far as music goes. We may not have an "Official" Industry here, but we do have "Official" talent inside our state lines. The few Artists that have "made it" from here unfortunately had to leave here in order to be heard and recognized. Not the case this time...
As this past weekends CIAA activities were going on and everyone was posting about the parties, the celebrities and the shooting at Diddy's party, one of our own was being brought on stage with Mayback Music's Rick Ross. Jerard "Manifest" Wiggins introduced the track "Drug Dealers Dream" which he Produced, from Ross's March 4th Released "MASTERMIND" Album and some of us North Carolina supporters want to make sure this accomplishment is not overlooked.
Manifest hails from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where he first stepped into the HipHop scene as a young emcee and producer. By age 13, he was focused on finding that "high quality production" in music which led him to learning how to engineer what he wanted to hear. He took it upon himself to play around with the "sounds" that instruments made and it wasn't long before his entire neighborhood became familiar with his signature productions laced with eerie piano keys, heavy bass sounds and rugged drum beats. During his teen years, Manifest was making his presence known at every rap battle hosted by his local radio station, WRSV Soul Jams 92.1, winning every one! His time as an "Independent Artist" was short lived though as he followed his true passion of music production and landed his first job as an engineer at East Sound Studio, while still in High School.
Super-Producer/Engineer Manifest eventually landed in Raleigh, North Carolina, and opened his M.E. MusicWorks Studio, which is the home of the "Legion of Muzik" label, network and company that combines a coalition of Producers, DJs and Artists. His business mind is serious and his craft is unmatched when it comes to pulling the "best sound" from a track. His work with numerous local Indy artists, as well as artists such as Jozeemo, Project Pat, Beanie Sigel, Young Buck and the Smack DVD/URL battle series has gained him major respect within our music scene. While utilizing his business/branding expertise, Manifest launched his own clothing label, "Kickz-N-Snarez", in the early 2000's, which was inspired by his love of music and fashion.
Most recently, Manifest and his "Legion of Muzik" partners have been putting together a series of projects titled "The Co-Sign". The "Co-Sign" projects showcase the work being put in at M.E. MusicWorks Studio so you will hear some of our hardest working NC Artists as well as some more prominent names in the music industry. "The Co-Sign 2" has gone on the road this time around with a collaborating tour. Watch for the upcoming tour stops by following Manifest on Twitter and Instagram @jmanifestnc #Salute

Teck-Zilla "L.O.V.E." Featuring Sonyae
I'm new to the sounds of Teck-Zilla and had to do some research on where he came from and who he is. From what I found, he's a man of many talents...Producer, Engineer, DJ, Writer and Emcee born in Nigeria, based out of Montreal. He is a founding member of the HipHop group "Str8Buttah", who hail from the UK and Nigeria. Teck-Zilla's name popped up on my feeds this morning attached to one of the dopest female lyricists in the Triangle, Sonyae. "L.O.V.E." (Living Off Volatile Emotions) is laced with an up-tempo Isaac Hayes sampled beat and Sonyae's perfect deliverance of verses. "L.O.V.E." is featured on Teck-Zilla's compilation album titled "Audio Chemistry: 1st Period" scheduled for release sometime in 2014.

#LadiesOfNCPRomo "Girl Song" Contest Ends March 1st!!
North Carolina can't Unite! Nobody wants to work with each other! North Carolina has no support! All of these words have been used to describe the failures of the North Carolina music scene, and I've felt this way many times. It's inevitable that not EVERYONE is going to feel the need or desire to work with another artist, to support another artists or to reach out to another "Team", but I assure you, there are some of us that ARE! The #LadiesOfNCPRomo team came together in a matter of hours! In a random spontaneous moment I wanted to find a way to get artists to reach out to a "guaranteed" fan base, the female, so while conversing in a feed with other Ladies in the same line of work as myself, we came together with a contest to inspire our NC Artists to reach further than their normal mixtape/street tracks. We would offer a "Free" push to every outlet we have for the most liked, marketable, and best put together song "for the ladies", all that was needed was for artists to send us their songs. Out of that, and in a matter of days, with the help of Tia aka "Meet The Connect PR" and Kischa Pena, we launched our Facebook Fanpage, Twitter and Soundcloud social pages to pass the word. So far we have had over 30 submissions from artists around North Carolina, and the #LadiesOfNCPRomo group has grown to 15 members!! Within 48 hours, our fan page had over 200 "likes"! I'd call that a pretty decent "network"... The song contest deadline for submissions is March 1st, 2014, so you still have a couple days to submit.
One sure thing that every good and dedicated artist needs is someone that can reach beyond their neighborhood and city, a team, a Public Relations specialist that can be the bridge between the artist, radio stations, blog sites and influential persons within the Music Industry. So if you are willing to invest in your dreams, your career and your future, we've brought together 15 of the best Ladies in PR and Promotions from your state!! No, we do not provide our services for free, but we are willing to work with your budget. Network in the group, find out who offers what your looking for and keep posted for future contests and offers. We all want to see our state and our beloved scene thrive!! #LetsWork

Akira "Manifest"
Last I had heard from Akira he had moved to the West Coast working with BrickHouse Music Group, following and refining his dreams. I'm glad to see that he's still grinding and I'm feeling this video and song. Akira is a Raleigh representing emcee that doesn't believe in following behind anyone. He's found his own way independently and I'm proud to see the progression. "Manifest" is one of those songs that you can hear the struggle and the confidence flowing in the verses. Video was directed by Mr. HimHot (Marqus Horton).

Power Of The Tongue Vol 4
SpringHill and Kick-A-Verse have announced their 4th in a Series of incredible "Power Of The Tongue Showcases" to be held on March 6th, 2014, at Deep South Bar (430 South Dawson St. Raleigh, NC). This line-up includes Brooklyn, NY emcee Scienze, Raleigh favorite Drique London, Singer/Rapper Free Agent Jasun, Durham's St. Nickel, and newest emcee to the scene, Sonyae, that has already impressed the likes of Legendary Skaz Digga, Mike Nice (Big Daddy Kane's DJ & Manager), DeeJay Samps and Butta Team DJ's DJ ScottyRock & DJ BroRabb. Host for the evening will Angel Brown and K-Hill will be providing music for the event.
How did the "Power Of The Tongue" showcases come about? Emcee Azon Blaze & Producer/Emcee K-Hill sat down and had a conversation about what's missing from the local scene as far as not enough QUALITY showcases and too many of the same showcases. K-Hill had just released his "Achilles' Hill EP" which was packed with his verbal sharpness that emulated how the "power of the tongue" can influence both music and life. A series of quality showcases that give real emcees an outlet to share their talent with existing and new fans.

1UP...Rap Star
So, I'm always excited when I hear about a new artist in the area, even more so if I can catch them at a show and they kill the stage. Exactly what happened Friday night at Cat's Cradle Benefit Show for P.O.S. During JSwiss's set, he brought out his new crew that he's been rocking with, known as "No9to5".
"A hip hop collective created in the dorm rooms of UNC-Chapel Hill"... Cayso , Rowdy, JSwiss, Optimus Rhymes, P-Rob and Topiq the Smooth Prophet make up the collection of artists in "No9to5" and they all have the same goal...to not be restrained to a 9 to 5 job/lifestyle and to "make it" in the world by pursuing their dream...Music!
I'm sure this is just my first feature on these artists, so check out the video by Rowdy and Cayso (also known together as 1UP)...Rap Star! This caught my attention because of the creativeness in the visuals...it's not your average video. There's a little bit of everything!

Chedda Chapp...The Empty Theater
New Bern, NC native, Chedda Chapp (aka Rontray Beatty) pulls listeners into his struggles and rise as an Independent Artist. Continuously building his work ethics and education, Chedda found himself in Winston-Salem, NC, studying finance at Winston-Salem State University. He started taking as many internships that he could to use the opportunities to explore other parts of the country and to broaden his perspective musically and personally. Eventually Chedda linked with fellow student Paris "P-Wise" Franks (cousin to Nolo) and was introduced to All-Terrain Music (ATM). Leading that label were Brion "Nervous Reck" Unger and Robert "Bobwire" Lawrence, both from Fayetteville, who showed him that quality music was more then just rapping over beats.
After a disappointing launch of his 1st project, The Next Chappter, and the breakdown of ATM, Chapp decided to launch his own movement, calling it 24/7, which represented his grind and the grind of other artists within the movement, T.Walker, AKAJ and Jey Davis. 24/7 was building a buzz throughout North Carolina's triangle area. Leading Chapp to release 2 more projects. Neither built the steam he was hoping for so he stepped back and finished his college education and focused on his personal life. Obviously the time off to regroup did some good, Chedda moved to Raleigh and linked back up with P-Wise, Nerv Reck and schoolmate Streetz Mentor. After over a year of dedication, struggles and collaborations, the "Life's Grand 24/7" emerged and the release of Chedda Chapp's best work thus far..."The Empty Theater"
