Benjamin "Lazurus" Curtis has been a well-known emcee around the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area since before he could legally drink or drive. He's earned a following outside of North Carolina rocking stages from the Northeast to California. Lyrically, Lazurus is high up on the list for North Carolina and his high energy on stage makes him a favorite performer for all those that have caught one of his sets. His album, "Alienation" (released in 2010) walks you through some of the bumps in the road that he's walked on throughout his 25 yrs and he encourages the listener to believe that in order to make it in life "you can't allow the past to restrict you".
As one of the creators and developers of his Independent Label, Lazrso Records, Lazurus teams up with emcee Josh Adam from New Jersey, Producer Millie Vaughn from Raleigh, NC, emcee S. Gold from Raleigh, and emcee Streets also from Raleigh. They are a self sufficient crew that does just about everything relating to their music. This video, "So To Myself I Say" is from Lazurus' "Alienation" album and one of my favorites.
